Grieving Hearts Yoga
Grief lives in our bodies -
It is in the heaviness of our shoulders, the tightness in our chest, the shallow breath that comes with loss. When words fall short, our bodies hold space for the deep waters of mourning, carrying both our sorrows and our capacity to heal.
Unlike traditional grief support that focuses primarily on talking, somatic practice like yoga offers another way through - one that honours the body's role in both holding and transforming our experiences of loss. Here, there's no pressure to "move on" or "get over it." Instead, we create space for grief to be felt, expressed, and gradually integrated at your own pace.
All expressions of grief are welcome. Whether your loss is fresh or long-held, whether tears come easily or feel stuck, whether you're carrying anticipatory grief or ancestral sorrow - this practice meets you exactly where you are. Together, we'll explore gentle ways to be with what is, while nurturing the deep wisdom and resilience that lives in your body.
Join us for this trauma-informed, grief-informed exploration of embodied healing. Let's walk this path together, holding space for both sorrow and possibility as we learn to move with - rather than away from - our most human experiences.

About This Group
Grieving Hearts Yoga is an 8-week virtual program crafted for adults who are experiencing grief and want something more than just talking about it. We blend gentle movement, breathwork, and community, all delivered with a healthy dose of compassion and zero pressure to “move on.” This isn’t your average yoga class—think of it as nervous system rehab meets group therapy, minus the awkward silences and with way more props (yes, you can use your couch cushions).
This is part of a research pilot project, and so we are asking for some additional pre- and post-questionnaires to be completed, and for people to commit to the program in exchange for the cost being waived.
What to Expect
Weekly Themes: From “Meeting Grief in the Body” to “Building Resilience” and “Sustainable Practice,” each week offers new tools and practices (plus plenty of permission to just show up as you are).
Safety First: Trauma-informed, polyvagal theory-based, and designed for all bodies and abilities. We’ll help you set up your space and adapt everything for your comfort.
Community: Expect laughter, tears, and the occasional pet cameo. You’ll have space to share, or not share, as much as you want.
Research Participation: You’ll fill out a few questionnaires and maybe do a short interview—nothing too intense, and your privacy is top priority.
